I planted a new foreground plant, Glossostigma, which has small round leaves and will hopefully make a nice carpet in the future.

I rearranged my bottom tank to accommodate a pair of Apistogramma cacatuoides. The male is an Orange Flash, the Female is a Double Red (her father was a Triple red) These fish are awesome! They also have spawned recently so I am expecting fry soon.

The tank is a standard 10 Gallon tank. Water is at a Ph of 7.4. I forgot what type of substrate I use but it I think it was Eco something or Amazon something... I use 2 standard full spectrum light bulbs in 2 clip-on desk lamps (above the tank). I am not sure how much light this puts out but it looks like 'medium' lighting. Plants include: Cryptocoryne lucens, Alternanthera reineckii, Ludwigia repens, Rotala roundifolia, Microsorium pteropus, and some Limnobium spongia.
I was positive that my Apistos were preparing to spawn, but after a few days I wasn't so sure. It seemed the Male had lost interest in the female. She would swim up to him and show off her yellow sides, but he would casually turn and swim the other direction...
For a second I was a little discouraged, but to my surprise and delight, my Apistos apparently did lay eggs, and Sunday, the fry were swimming around.
This is the mother's first batch. The father has had several batches with other females before.

So far the Female seems to be looking after them well. The male is hanging around and the female is not showing any aggression towards him. In fact she is more yellow then before and Showing of her sides again like she is ready to breed. The male seems to be quite gentle around the fry. If food falls near them he wont go for it.
These are the smallest fish Fry I have personally dealt with. The are seriously only the size of this: *
