After moving some shrimp around, I ended up with an empty 10 gallon tank. So I decided to make something easy, visually awesome, yet functional as a breeder tank. Apistos are my current addiction so I went from there.
Did a bit of research online for some Apistogramma natural habitats. I came across the blog Hudson's world (www.passionate4pikes.wordpress.com) which had some amazing articles on Apistos as well as capturing wild fish. Seriously, check it out.
I had my inspiration and an hour later I had my tank:
I used some lace rocks to conceal a breeding coconut in the back corner. I used a large Root as a background piece, which also provides many hiding spots for comfort. Oak Leaves were used to simulate the many fallen leaves found in the water in their natural habitat. I plan on adding a few more twigs.
The tank is currently cycling, so the Apistos are not present.
